SLOWING DOWN…..

posted in: Post | 1

I have finally slowed down, missing my Danielle and our “energizer bunny” activity filled days, but my body is thanking me. I did not wake up with my body aching, LOL

Julie and I woke up leisurely after sleeping in, a first for me. We got ready for our beach day and to meet family. You know me a trip on the East Coast is not complete without seeing as many of my Alfin crew as possible. Jules and I grabbed bagels and Starbucks for the train. If you can believe it there is a chill in the air today, grey clouds, and a bit of a drizzle. I choose to have a hot Dirty Soy Chai, my winter drink in AZ. We make our way to Grand Central, which I realize Danielle missed seeing. I love this beautiful station. I recall so many movies filmed in this space as we await our New Haven bound CT train. It’s still so crazy to me you can be hidden in serenity of a quiet apt and the hustling bustling streets of this electrifying City is always right outside.

We board the train, arrive in Fairfield , CT an hour later to meet UJ, Aunt Marlene, Jared, and sweet little Alex. There is a farmers market with white tents in the towns main square. It’s a breezy grey beautiful day for this sunshine filled Desert girl to enjoy. I’m in flip flops and grateful my Uncle has a sweatshirt for me to borrow later. We made our way to a Tavern and have a relaxing lunch on a street corner patio. Little cutie patootie Alex is playing pretend dinosaurs with such an imagination and the most angelic gorgeous face. She just the sweetest! We all squeeze into the car, I’m on Julie’s lap acting like I’m a kid too and we drive to our beach day. The clouds won’t keep this group away. We sit on chairs, take in the view of a lighthouse in the distance, million dollar homes line the coast, and the Atlantic Ocean is warm. I put my feet in while I watch Alex jump waves with her daddy, I collected my sea shells and relish in the beauty of my favorite coast.

it starts to rain, we pack up and head out to find a Pizza place for dinner. A few tapas and pizzas shared, and Julie and I run to catch the train back to the City. What a lovely escape and I feel serious love as we all embrace to say our good-byes. Family is EVERYTHING!

The train ride back is SO relaxing, we get couch bound and watch silly shows. Early bed time and I’m now typing while on an early morning train to New Jersey. My final chapter of this adventure. Can’t believe I arrived exactly one week ago, boy does time fly and do I know how to pack it all in. I truly can’t believe how much Danielle and I experienced in 6 days.

Until next time…..

love laurie sue xo 🙂

  1. Danielle

I can’t believe a week has passed either Laurie Sue. We were in the rain and grabbing coffee with our Uber driver this time last week. The day was just starting and filled with discovery and wonder. I just dropped two of my children off for their first day of school and now headed back to work after a two month vacation. It sounds like you are wrapping up your East coast vacation in a relaxing environment. I’m still processing our six days of fun and exploration. Thank- you for sharing one of the all time best weeks of my life with me. I am still smiling. All my love, Danielle. P.S. I will see Grand central station and the museums, Top of rock next time. Have so much more fun !
