As I sit at The Wine Tavern Bar in the Phoenix airport awaiting my flight to Portland, Maine, Im reflecting on the last few weeks leading up to this BIG adventure. The word ‘ABUNDANCE’ was the name of the spa treatment I chose at my annual Miraval Spa “team building” day with the law firm that spoils me. The word truly describes the bursting with excitement feeling I have been experiencing within, over the last few days. Like pinch me is this my life!? Crazy to think where I was a year ago…..Baruch Hashem, 🙏🏻 My life is back in flow!! The flowing feeling of serious alignment and true manifestation of my dreams becoming my reality is an understatement. Im embarking on a new journey……something I have dreamed of since age 17, when I begged my dad to go to college in CT. The dream of living in New England and submerging myself with locals, the food, smells of the fresh sea, sounds of sea gulls, a new beautiful state with so much to offer in the department of charm, quaint small town feel, cobble stone streets, friendly people,……this is what dreams are made of in my book. Im super grateful for the friends and family who have already committed to visits and quality time together on the journey.
My remote work, and this perfect tenant who has signed a lease through 10/31, with a very good potential to go month to month after, and lets not forget the divine light from above who manifested all of this for me. Thank YOU!! Everything in the last few months with logistics to bring this together seriously fell into place in the most beautiful way. Thanks to my mom and Julian for the use of their luxurious cars and my sister, Jackie for offering me her gorgeous casita for 9 days to live. The quality time with puppies( Wilbur- my fav dog) and nieces made my send off that much better. I received such a thoughtful, silly gift before leaving…. My Boston partner in crime from 2 yrs ago exactly. She gifted me a “Dora” necklace. She knows how much I love to explore and be on a new adventure. Until strangers start calling me Dora, Im wearing it. I feel she(Dora) is my alter ego. We go very well together.
So…..good bye to hot AZ summers and hello to New England living…..first stop is Portland, Maine for the entire month of July. I will have 3 visitors here….first Mrs Fancy arrives Wednesday. We have a Bar Harbor weekend planned, a bucket list place to experience in my book. Terri Sue arrives on the 10th for 1 whole week. We have SO much food planned to eat…🐽🐷, along with long walks, ferry rides, bike rides, farmers markets, so much sight-seeing, and reservations at yummy restaurants. Lot’s of lobster awaits. Whitney has requested a Lobster roll rating report….Stay tuned. Ohhhh and a day trip to Portsmouth, NH for a work day for me with another PairTree colleague, while T explores a new town. Im excited for Terri to experience Maine. It stole my heart 7 years ago when I was here with Boots (Audrey :-). And the final visitor is my mama! We will explore new things this time around….by the time she gets here I will be like a “Mainer”. Feeling SO blessed for this first chapter of my adventure. Its July 1st, feels like July will fly by. On the last leg of this flight…..slept all the way to JFK. On second plane…….Portland here I come!
Im now finalizing this post at 7pm after getting all settled. OMG, have the stars aligned…..I reunited with my little sporty white Honda. I missed her…..I can drive with the windows down and music pumping. The breeze in the air with my eye candy of huge green trees and water everywhere, Im truly in heaven!!! This is by far my happy place!! I drove around for an hour……Bruce Shelton lives within me with my sense of direction. Thank you Daddy!! After going ALL over I have this small city down pat. I found all the restaurants, (important stuff), my home, the trader joes & Whole Foods, post office, a nail place, the co-working place, got my bearings. Made my way down to Commercial St where all the action is…..parking angels were with me. 🧚🏻♀️💫 Front row spot for $5 instead of the $40 lot I initially tried to park. Walked to the Portland Lobster Co. ordered my first of many lobster rolls w/ a blueberry beer. Got a seat on a stool outside by the wharf, watching boats go in/out. Sitting where Boots and I did 7 years ago. I met my first stranger, Barry. Such a smart wise 62 yr old man, married with 3 kids….he’s from Boca, Fl, here for a wedding- a CFO for a large co involved in coal mines, diamond mines, this guy was beyond successful. We spoke about raising kids in this generation, his kids, adoption, marriage, relationships, finances, travels, it was a Laurie moment that lasted 1 hour. He was so glad I sparked up a convo and wished me well on my journey. It was such a nice waybto spend my entry into this beautiful town. We did have a chuckle, as he said, Is your name Dana? I was like…..huh…..until I realized I was wearing my Dora necklace and then got to share my story. I shared how my starbucks buddies think its okay to wear as it is a conversation piece…..he agreed. Jackie thinks its REDIC. LOL!! I grabbed a blueberryLemon holy donut for the road…..🐽🐷
Off to Trader Joes for grocery’s. It is time to meet the infamous Monica, who has arranged my housing for me. This lady has been talking to me for 6 months, since I started to manifest this idea. She made my dreams come true with my apartment. The location and price is perfect. I did not know the amount of steep stairs involved, but it will make for great exercise. Ha ….She gave me a real grand tour of the complex, other buildings, common courtyard and introduced me to 3 other residents…..all older ladies. If you know me…..I love babies & old ladies. 😂 After i unloaded my car and carried SO much stuff up and down these insane steep steps(3 flights) old building. I was exhausted and sweaty. I definitely over packed. I laid on my couch, my bed, was tired.
I have rallied and am typing this after a long powerful hot shower(absolute bonus) , at The Press hotel. A very cool hotel in the old port- you know I love hotel lobby’s. It is 2 blocks away….I will walk around the area, maybe find a light dinner and go home early. Super excited for a full Sunday to explore more here, go on a beach walk….. before my work week begins Monday.
Thanks for all the FaceBook love. Love you all…..excited to be on this adventure….so giddy with a constant smile….feeling humble and grateful. Feel free to comment here or simply reply to my email….or let me know if you want to be removed from the updates.

Stair climbing’s- sounds like an aerobic workout besides the jaunts to and from downtown. You’ll end up losing weight.with all your exercise.
Buona fortuna

I’m so happy that you are enjoying being a Mainer.
The necklace was such a thoughtful gift from your sweet Boston Partner.
I decided to research the name. In Greek, it can be viewed as “G-d’s Gift,” which you are to all of us here. In Hebrew, it is the feminine of dor, which means “generation.” This certainly applies as well.
I would like to add an “A” in front of Dora, since we all Adora you so much.
Love, Me (from the lounge at SFO).
Ps, See, I don’t always tease you. (I think I bit through my tongue writing this post).

The rain in Maine falls mainly…when visitors complain…so, for of you, it will never rain again while you enjoy a life of happiness, people chatting, food tasting, exploring and imploring to your following.
Having visited your first stop on multiple occasions, I can honestly say I have not been to the post office, but look forward to picturing the balance of your experiences within and around the wonderful hidden nooks that Portland has to offer.
Enjoy the pizza and ice cream!
