Let The Games Begin!

We are on our way to Europe…. My mom and me 🙂 Feeling blessed!
After enjoying the most incredible loving wedding of my cousin Adam &Melissa in Connecticut. To recap, my entire family flew to CT to celebrate this beautiful union, 7 years in the making. We had a family filled heart felt time. The weather was a bit humid, calling for curly hair, lol

A New England summer with windows open, misquotes out, green trees EVERYWHERE! Yummy food including my favorite, Treva in West Hartford Center to start our weekend of eating off with a bang. Rehearsal dinner with speeches for the bride and groom and a toast to honor my beloved father’s absence. Cousins playing, cocktails overflowing, pictures being captured, yummy butternut squash ravioli’s, and another night ending at the Center.

An adventure for the Shelton crew….we all made our way to Mystic, CT Saturday prior to the wedding to take pics in front of Mystic Pizza. The quaint New England town off Main Street with boats in a marina, cute little stores, boutiques, ice cream parlors, old fashioned candy stores, absolute beauty. My most favorite part of the USA, so glad for my nieces to experience New England . The 12 of us had a yummy lunch at Red 36, warm-buttery lobster rolls, fresh fish, friendly servers, and a nice breeze from the water outside. Back to Hartford for the BIG event at the Nathan Hale Homestead.

A beautiful setting, with a hand-made chuppah by Melissa’s dad. The rain stopped just in time for this stunning elegant bride to make her grand entrance. Best part was their beautifully written vows. I love when a couple writes their own vows- so personal, genuine, romantic, and a perfect way to enter this cherished forever union of marriage. Shout out to Adam & Melissa- impressive!! The Party was a real PARTY, from 80’s music to country, this dance floor was hoping the entire night. Food trucks were delish! The scenery and decorations well thought out and perfect, A great time!

Now, the next chapter for which I have started writing…..

My mom and I have started our journey. This will be a dance, one for which I’m convinced we will both learn and grow from each other. How special the mother/daughter bond is from the first breath you take in this world. The different perspectives experienced already in my mind and yet we have just begun. I’m the girl on a budget and travels to explore. She is used to traveling in luxury. After I made us schlep luggage through train cars on our transfer in New Haven I realized we are years apart and why make her live in my world- I’ll join hers 🙂 We ordered a car service to pick us up at Penn Station to transport us in luxury to JFK as opposed to my creative adventure in mind of catching trains/subways to kill time and save $ ha ha.

We arrived at JFK 5.5 hours before our flight, learned our flight which I booked through Expedia on Aer Lingus will not honor our TSA Pre-Check. Sigh 😉 Laurie style go with the flow…..We go through security, long line, take off shoes, go through bags…talk about patience. Good thing we have hours to spare. We find a restaurant eat a great meal, have pre-flight cocktails shared by tear filled deep conversations about life and the aging process.

We have made our way to the gate, will be boarding for Dublin in 1.5 hrs-how time flies. Arriving in Prague Monday at 3:45 pm. Omg….pinch me is this really finally here?!  I can’t wait!

Love Laurie Sue XO
