Blog back in business!! I love having a reason to write, it usually means Im traveling outside of Arizona living my best life. With the exception of my new Jewdicious gig (checkout most recent article here). Travel blog writing is my favorite hobby. If you’re excited to join us on all our adventures for the next week, watch out for my nightly posts. If you prefer to be left off, reply and let me know. No hard feelings. I know my lack of editing can drive some people crazy. I get so excited to share and don’t go back to make all correction, please forgive me. This trip is with Mrs Fancy(Tracy) and her fabulous daughter Tabby.
The day started at 3:30am, for a 6 am flight to JFK, to connect to our Athens flight. We got to experience our favorite 5 star ⭐️Delta Sky Club lounge. I had my first cocktail in 2 months. Happy to report I have lost 10 lbs from my piggie digital nomad tour, 10 more to go. Praying 1 week of cheating packed with walking wont destroy my goal too much, 🙏🏻🤞🏻I enjoyed my first bite of cheese and also indulged in a Nathan’s hot dog. I mean when in NYC…..I did have a big plate of veggies too. We hung there for 2 hours and boarded our BIG plane to carry us across the pond to Europe. The BIG news to celebrate so far is that Tabby found out in-flight she was accepted to the prestigious Tufts University in Boston. Nice to have choices. We may hear from 3 more school while on vaca, good news is welcomed. I embarrassed her on the plane and had the flight attendant bring out champagne to celebrate, and make an announcement on the speaker. Big moments, her mother is SO proud. We are 2 rows apart and these flights are going by SO fast.
I watched a couple movies, read my book, ate, listened to podcasts, and read through work emails. I only slept 1-2 hrs, as I was surrounded by small noisy kids. Good thing I like them, ha. Got our passports stamped upon arriving in Athens airport, a fast connection to our 3rd plane to Santorini. We have already noticed how friendly & helpful the Greek are from a hospitable point of view. Quick 35 min flight and WE MADE IT. A full 22 hour flying day…. We are tired and some are grumpy. Our hotel transport picked us up in our luxurious van. A 7 min ride to the city center of Fira(the capital of Santorini). A tiny fishing village and really quiet during the off season. Our driver drops us at the top of the hill, 2 porters are waiting to accompany us down 200 meters of rocky narrow steps to our home away from home. As we walked we passed a herd of donkeys, many worker type men, and a handful of tourists. The alleyways are pretty empty. So far it’ reminding me of a much smaller scale Positano look mixed with a lil Vernazza., Italy. Its is sunny, yet a bit chilly. Thankful I brought my puffy coat.
We are greeted by the wonderful concierge gal I have been emailing with for the past few weeks. She provides us with lots of details around the property and area. We are all exhausted and dirty. Sadly room not ready for a few hours. We hang by the pool in our clothes after enjoying our first taste of some yummy greek food staring into the sea. Finally, we unpack, Tabby goes to sleep Tracy & I both rested on our balcony while capturing so many photos of this priceless view.
Somehow the time flew by…..we watched our first magical sunset before heading to dinner at The Pelican Cafe. Delish meal…..omg, diet is out the window for 5-6 days. Ugh! Dinner was over the top! Fresh fish, yummy feta pie with honey, tomato fritters, grilled chicken, and the best broccoli, we ordered extra. The extra friendly staff brought out complimentary caramel flan, although we still stopped for gelato on our hike home. I had a kid size pistachio- yummy! Planning to try authentic greek frozen yogurt next.
Tomorrow is our first action packed Dora filled day. Im currently tucked into my cozy bed with extra blankets in our cave- like room. Alarm set for 6:40, room service is served on our private balcony between 7:30-8am. Pick- up is at 9 am for our 5 hour sight seeing tour of the entire island of Santorini. So excited to explore other villages, the volcano, hot springs, and learn the history of this slice of heaven on earth. Church bells ring on the hour……it just struck 11pm, time to go to sleep. Sweet Dreams to all…..

Dear Exit,
you asked for it, you got it! Toyota!
1. I’ll be watching out for your nightly posts. I will not even watch basketball, as I wait by my computer.
2. Nathan’s hot dog in Delta lounge?
3. Mazel Tov Tabby!
4. I appreciate the “some of us were grumpy.” I would be grumpy.
5. I am so surprised that you had your passport stamped upon arrival in a foreign country. Did they bring out a cake?
6. I am glad the alleyways were empty. Phew!
7. Best Broccoli: You are the first human to say those words.
8. Dinner does not sounds fattening. It actually sounds like a Laurie Sue healthy meal. Tomato Fritters; no bueno!
9. Dying to hear how authentic Greek yogurt compares to inauthentic Greek yogurt.
10. What is a worker type man? Like with hammer and chisel? Perhaps some paint?
11. The bell rings all through the night? How does one sleep? In 38 minutes the bell will ring and you will awaken to my list of crap!
Σε αγαπώ,
Butchie aka PIYA
