Adult Sleep Away Camp on Steroids!!

Our full day started with a 9 am out the door for a real workout. We went our separate ways….Jules ran around the property while I went to the water, ran/walked on the shoreline to be next to that magical turquoise water. Sneakers got a bit wet and sandy. Will go barefoot next time. We arrived at the dining hall and had just missed breakfast. They Stop serving at 10 am. No worries, us little pigs made our way to Sharkie’s where food is always served. Yummy made to order omelettes and fresh fruit. It is gorgeous out, a bit moist in the air, but overcast skies and if I didn’t mention the turquoise water- Holy eye candy!

We went by the Water Sports Area to sign up for tomorrows sailing lesson. We met Charlie & Julio from Mexico City. Wowee, these guys are so kind, friendly, and with 6- packs like washboard flat. They must not be eating everything in sight, lol. They give us the 411 about all free activities. We go home, quick to change into bathing suits for the day to go kayaking. The first time we are in these majestic waters…..the crystal clear beautiful shade of blue is like no other ocean water I have ever been. We had another great workout. The wind pushed us farther out to sea, that the return was so much better for these arms. It was a peaceful moment in time that has absolutely made these girls forget about life at home. Vacation mode is fulled embraced, this is our current reality, which feels like a serious fantasy!! I was drifting on my own, daydreaming and talking to the sky…..asked my Daddy to show a sign, looking for anything in the sky. I caught up to Julie, she says…..OMG- i just thinking about your dad and that big boat just drove by playing New York New York by Frank Sinatra….he’s here with us!! Crazy Signs!!

Our hour kayak was over, we arrived back to the pool area just in time for” Crazy Signs”, this is the Club Med high energy non-stop entertainment with the GO’s. All surround the pool dancing and singing- like on a cruise ship. Its sooooo much fun! Other guests are up dancing & clapping. We did learn the hotel is only at 30% occupancy. We can only imagine what a scene and party place this normally would be. Its lunch time……lol more food! 🙂 I will need a serious diet by the time I come home with a 3 day juice cleanse. Oy!!

We got our first cocktail for the day, a Lemon Drop on the rocks. Alcohol is weak here, but the drinks are good! We finally ate something healthy, a fresh piece of yummy grilled Swai fish! And shared a turkey sandwich. We always need to try a little of everything, had only a few bites of the mac & cheese as it wasn’t worth the calories,…..I know- oink, oink! There is a wine cellar here, we went to check it out…..BIG Silver Oak display, hello again 🙂 We got a bottle of Rose to take with us to the beach. Our wine friend, hooked us up with a silver ice bucket, 2 glasses, and we were all set for this relaxing beach day!

Julie shared her epiphanies, which I feel could be a book title, “ Epiphany’s by the Sea”, ha ha delirious thoughts lol. We both read our books, as we listen to the natural beauty of waves splashing calmly, sail boats floating by, its such a peaceful setting. I listen to my Gedale on my headphones and have my spiritual connection. Todays topic, “ Why do we face personal crisis in our life”, I love this guy!!

In the distance there is a girl doing a photo shoot, video footage shaking her bootie with confidence – which was hanging out for all to see. She had her own music, just a guest, but quite the performance. This gorgeous Argentinian family is laying nearby us…..these twin brothers are handsome! They look like they  could be late 20’s/early 30’s with full 1970 mustaches, the mom and sister are all together. The Spanish accents and sounds of their native language is sexy! We have made up our own versions of their story. Next Marvelous Max shows up, he is selling parasailing experiences. What a fun rasta- farian dude! He was born here, but spent his youthful years in the Bahamas to get an education and is now back on this Island. He is a 62 yr old Taurus- yes….I started asking people their signs. We booked for Tuesday at 4 pm . Julie a bit nervous but was easily persuaded. I did decide we could survive on the show Survivors as a team. She would be an excellent Captain for me. Our beach day is coming to a close, its 445 and Happy Hour time at Sharkie”s. Yes- this really is Sleep away camp for adults. There is a schedule to follow.

Double fisted upon arrival, the drink of the day A Banana Boat cocktail and I got a Mango Mojito. Impossible to get drunk, unless you order like Julie, just vodka on the rocks ha. We again order it up at the Shark Attack- best food here. A grilled cheese, sweet potato fries, wings- not the healthiest place but SO much fun. Live band is playing Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond ….everyone including us is singing. We facetime a few and love all the DTG love of comments. Thank you to all those who replied. It always adds to the fun of sharing and we both enjoy the interchange as an added bonus. We enjoy our second Sunset from our comfy orange couches with our feet in the sand. Pinch me now…..do we ever have to leave??

Back to the room, its 6 pm, we left at 9 am and have not showered yet today. We finally make ourselves presentable. We blow dried our hair and wore polka dot dresses tonight. Made our way back to the bar for some pre- dinner drinks. Its seriously a non stop eating and drinking fest! We sat and chatted with other GM’s. Met 2 older ladies from Mass. More girls from Montreal, and I swear a guy from my previous CM trip is here. Sari- do you recall the guys name who we ran into in CA that we had known from CM? I may have to inquire tomorrow, small world!

Dinner time….no more food talk- I’m making myself sick knowing how often we eat, lol. Best part of the night was the Entertainment. At 9:30 started The Carousel Show… like a serious Vegas production. Acrobatics, dancing, and great costumes, Julio balanced everything on his chin. From a paddle board to a ladder, its was nuts! The contortions these strong bodies put themselves in was beyond impressive. I think Hillary should work at a Club Med in her 20’s. When the show ended it was a high energy dance party. Everyone participated, including us. I had the greatest workout, while jumping around dancing! I have not moved like this in a long time. We partied with the GO’s. It was wild! I have some fun video footage!

We then met a wonderful man, Joseph. He is French/Israeli, but now living in Chicago. He is almost divorced after being married 25 years with 3 kids. Once we connected that we were all members of the tribe it was an instant comfort in chatting. We sat around and shared life stories, he was interesting and genuine. He is traveling solo, speaks 4 languages, is a psychologist, and is a Sagittarius. He wanted to dance…..oh my I was beat. Jules danced with him. I bounced around the dance floor, slowly fading. We met another guy from Mass, older who just wanted to dance.  I must say, one of my favorite parts of traveling is all the strangers you meet. The conversations about life and how each of us are on such different journey’s. Truly fascinates my psyche. This place is party central. We made it until 11:45 tonight. Have an early start tomorrow with a sailing lesson.

Until tomorrows entry!! XO

Miss you all!

Hugs and Kisses

Considering that On Survivor you have to find or often hunt your own food I’m not sure you would “survive” on that show without all your food. You would however prob lose the weight that you might b gaining so maybe it’s something to consider when y’all get home 🙂

Sounds like you’re having lots of fun. Those performers are quite something

Jackie’s reply is hilarious! Glad u enjoying…you love these type of vacays. I say…” eat everything” you only live once. And agree, cocktails are weak just like cruises. You are already tan! ❤️ Terri

    Hi Laurie,

So good to know you’re traveling again. Looks like you’re having fun. Let’s talk when you get back. Love, Roz

Omg- love Jackie’s reply, too. Not sure you could be on Survivor. Remember your cruise job? Just saying … they fed you there. Lol. I’ve never heard the analogy before club med = Survivor. Cracking up.

    Looks so peaceful and beautiful.

Glad you’re getting signs from your dad.

Sounds like a lot of entertainment. 😝

This is a nice vacation speed for you both. I like that every day is filled with beach, eat, relax, eat, drink, eat, dance, entertainment. You’re usually navigating big cities or exploring Buddhist temples or enjoying Passover in another country. I love all those experiences yet this one seems like perfect fun and connection in one of your favorite environments, sun and water, with one of your favorite people. Xo

Day 2 was a significant read… can’t wait for Day 7. Should be 10 lbs more in the photos. Light alcoholic beverages, times three, means a stupor is forming into a drunken 🥴. A man that tells you he’s about to be getting a divorce, having 3 kiddies, and traveling on his own = a person looking for a 5 night stand and part in Law and Order SVU. Julie’s epiphany needs details. Enjoy sailing the eye candy!!! LCUJ
