A Perfect Ending to my East Coast adventure

A relaxing train ride is the best way to start a day in my book, these last 2 days flew by like the rest of this trip, and sadly I am writing this post at home in AZ. I will do my best to recap my wonderful 2 days in the state of New Jersey.

I was scooped up by Jonny Brownie aka Pony Tail and had a nice visit with his parents with a Starbucks coffee. Always a treat to visit! He had purchased a new toy, the weather was gloomy but perfect for a ride to the Jersey Shore in a Convertible Porsche 911 Turbo S, yes he is a BIG kid and collects these toys. He knows how to live life!  I experienced going 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds while sounding like a rocket going off down the NJ Pkwy. I think we went at least 119 mph , crazy and free!! Besides feeling like my neck may need an adjustment it was exhilarating and fun, wind in my hair, another movie scene moment I’m fortunate to be living. We made our way down to Point Pleasant for me to have a buttery yummy Lobster Roll, him fish and chips on the water. He even got me a souvenir baseball t-shirt from the place. It was mouth watering delicious. We watched boats go in and out of this marina and enjoyed the cool ocean air breeze. Got back into the rocket, which by the way is super loud to a point of obnoxious that people stop to stare, take photos etc. More driving around these beach community’s along the water, checking out these huge homes. A girl can dream 🙂 especially me! We took a million photos, thank goodness he is photogenic and just as silly. Next up, a foot massage, yay!!

Danielle and I had this on our list but got too busy pounding the pavement that my feet were super happy to walk into a place called, “Happy Feet”. It’s like a reflexology foot massage, 60 minutes of heaven. My guy was a mix between rough and abuse but it was welcomed. Went by Belmar to watch the sunset and a old Netflix show that is new for me, I addicted. It’s a bit raunchy but also great, if you don’t watch Californiacation, check it out. I think I may binge watch it this weekend. Already on episode 4, and you know me- I’m not the TV watcher.

The day came to an end and I finally decided I’m gonna leave this coast on Wednesday early as duty calls, work stuff has been calling my name back to reality. A great uplifting adoption story happened while I’m here, worth sharing. I made my first ruinion happen. A baby whom I was there for her birth 19 years ago reached out wanting to connect to her birth mom. It took less than 24 hours and they began emailing, texting, and about big news. The birthmom my previous client has been updating me non stop and so grateful filled with kindness and unreal sentiments towards me that I know I will never truly leave adoption. This is the stuff for why I stay in it. These magical highs I feel from reading these messages warm my heart so much. The 19 yr old is pregnant and my client is gonna be a grandma. Holy moly…..I guess history repeats itself in any circumstance. A real tear jerker story that is unfolding beautifully.

Anyways back to Jersey. Second day I spend the morning solo, and treated myself to a movie, Crazy Rich Asians…..omg, if this is not on your must see list add it now. What a great romantic comedy. I’m a sucker for these types of flicks. Loved it sooooo much! Than a pedicure, yes I said this was the best way to end my fabulous trip. Met back up with Jon for a fun filled touristy day planned by me, Dora. I had always heard about The Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ, near Princeton. We made an hour drive in a normal car 🙂 This place is magnificent, wow! It’s all funded by the Johnson & Johnson family and a fortress around a lake. I don’t think my vocabulary can describe this place and give it justice that I recommend you look it up and visit. So unbelievable the life size art sculptures of things, people, abstract stuff, scenes etc. We spent 2 hours walking the grounds taking tons of photos of things and doing silly poses all over the place and the weather could not have been better. We are like 2 big kids together, a play date type of day. Made our way back to town through the lush greenery of corn fields, huge dense trees, deer along side the roads etc. I was starving and found a restaurant in Cranberry, a quaint Main Street town that was sleepy and had a New England flavor to the architecture. We had a few Italian tapas at a transformed old house, reminded me of a Bed and Breakfast. I enjoyed a half bottle of red wine, as my vacation is coming to a close gotta end it right 🙂 Had a quick stop to say bye to Jon’s parents…..and back for another episode of my new Netflix show. A 3:30 alarm is set for my 6 am flight.

I was scooped up by my incredible mommy, already made it to Chloe’s for my staple breakfast, shared every single 1000’s of photos with her and am home doing laundry. Back to the grind, a work appt this afternoon.

Thanks for being along side me/us on this journey. Danielle and I both appreciated all the comments and living out this dream. Until my next adventure…….

love you all

love Laurie sue aka Dora 🙂 xo

    Fantastica.

I want more – can’t all your friends and family pay for your next adventure?
This way we can live vicariously through your eyes. I always wanted to go to Bologna. Can you plan going to that culinary destination sometimes soon?
