As you can imagine, we had a slow start to our morning. My body certainly is not 25 any more. It was nice to lay in bed longer! Somehow Jules got up for a run and then came back to rest. It was a rainy day, with an actual breeze and super grey storm clouds. A perfect day for staying under blankets.
We ventured out at 10, which remember once we are out we don’t come back. Always things to do and people to hang out with. Truly making up for not going to sleep away camp as a kid. Thinking we had missed the breakfast in the main dining room, we walked all the way to Sharkies, to learn it was closed due to rain. Main dining open later. Neither one of us had a real appetite- imagine that, lol. We had many delirious laugh attacks at breakfast as Julie was caught by a waiter playing with her food. She had gooey cheese on a bite of a fork and swung it around like a little kid would do….we were hysterical. A had to be there kind of a moment, along with my watery undercooked eggs today. I think our bodies were happy about the less food consumption today. I did leave out yesterday, that I had an incredible Surf &Turf for dinner, ha Steak & Shrimp, with mashed potatoes. Yummy! Back to today……coffee and a couple bites and we were off to the Beach.
A day in the sunshine on a beach chair, staring into that magical light crystal turquoise water. Omg!! I listened to my Gedale Fenster in my ears while laying on my stomach sifting with my fingers, this soft white diamond sand. Its like powder! Reading my book and taking in the quiet sounds of nature. Blair appears to chat, a very nice guy, I learned in his early 60’s and never married, no kids. We exchanged our Ixtapa stories, name game, etc. He knows all the usual suspects as he did many JDate trips prior. His parents are both gone, he has one sister who he doesn’t talk too, not his choice. He doesn’t want to exist alone forever. It was an intriguing chat, hearing everyones stories always fascinates me. He told us how he needed to perform a poem for us, did we want PG or R, i said PG-13 and bam….this guy rapped it out. I actually video taped his performance. He left, and Julie was like okay I cannot handle him for much longer. He and 3-4 others here that he is friendly with, they wanted us to join them at meal time. We will continue our own thing and see everyone at the after party’s. Excited for The Throwback theme party tonight. All 70’s -2000 music. I have a feeling I will be bopping in my chair.
After Lunch we headed back to the beach, had such a relaxing day until it was time for our Parasailing adventure. Holy Marvelous Max and 2 other Dominicans- Miguel & Emilio. We walked to the beautiful dock, I must share my feet love the smooshy soft sand , but my calfs are dying with all this walking in sand. We will for sure be scheduling massages in the outdoor palapa tent. It is calling our names. Brace your selves for this next adventure. I had been parasailing once before in Hawaii with my dad and sisters. That time we were seated in a chair like roller coaster type seat. This was just a harness, ropes, and some metal locks snapped in tight. Originally Julie was excited, always a teeny bit apprehensive , but still excited. We board this speed boat, the previous participants are still on the boat. A mother, father, and their 7 year old son. This guy tried to freak us out, the kid liked it, but the mom said it went a bit too high. Julie got her nerves worked up a bit, was starting to get a bit terrified. They made us sign a waiver, Jared would not have been happy. Jules said, do you know what your signing? It basically said- we could not sue them, or hold them responsible for ANYTHING, including death. Lol Hence why we didn’t advertise this excursion until we were safely back on land.
We got a wonderful fast bumpy ride to the end of our beachside of the Island. This was an added bonus, as we have not left our property. This cute family was staying at The Beaches, all inclusive resort. It was beautiful and looked luxurious from our view. Now we are off, they get us hooked up, feet go into the harness, life vests on, and we ask all sorts of reassuring questions. Miguel has been doing these rides since 2003, he was quite comforting. Im ready…..my sweet girl is too, just a bit scared! We are instructed to sit on the back of the boat as they hook the parachute up to us…..tell us we will be flying for 12-15 minutes and bye bye……It was Magnificent! Omg, I say we are “flying like a bird”, Jules response, “ ya, well we are not birds”. She had looped her arm in mine and my elbow is being squeezed into her life jacket, but the higher we go she wont unlock arms. Happy to be her protector. I said” wow….don’t you feel like your in heaven”, her reply…this is the closest to heaven I have ever been”. The turquoise waters have such a different look from this viewpoint. You can see through the clear ocean, we can see the Island in its entirety. What a view, Jules is now convinced she doesn’t have to worry about sharks, absolutely no fish swimming in the waters! She has calmed her nerves and we are grateful to have each other to share this experience. Occasionally the wind moves us and its a bit alarming, or we go up higher then even I liked. I make some OMG, NOISES…she doesn’t like when I’m nervous. I kept saying, this is a real practice in having faith and trusting- Emunah!
They never explained how we would land…..we can tell we are getting lower and closer to the boat, these silly guys make it so our tushes touch the water for a second to snap some fun photos and get some screams. We land back on the boat smoothly. It was SO fun!! I did inquire if anyone has ever had a heart attack while up there, to which we learned no. We discussed how neither of our mothers could handle this activity. Getting onto the dock from the boat was scariest part. A real jump, I was holding onto Emilio for dear life while the boat was rocking.
Back to relax on the beach, its 4pm, Jules had a work call. Then its 5pm, time for Happy Hour at Sharkie’s. My first and only drink of the day, The Red Queen- a strawberry/raspberry concoction. I got comfy on a beach couch with my book and the live music in the background, while Julie joined the group beach Volleyball game with all the fun friends.
After watching our 3rd sunset, we decided to relax in the room for the first time. Get ready leisurely for once and drive up some energy for the fun 80’s party tonight.
OMG, What a night!! We had SO much Fun tonight! I must say after talking to my mom for a second, its SO nice to be away from reality. I have not heard one political topic here or vaccine talk- it has been an ABSOLUTE TREAT!! Will be hard to leave this incredible place! We LOVE it here! Dinner was yummy! Salmon Wellington was my favorite tonight, along with a few bites of a four cheese pizza slice, and a beef carpaccio small plate to share. Only water for dinner for me. We then of course made our way to the bar…..I got an amaretto sour, Jules always gets vodka with some lime/ and mint. We met Paco….he is a newbie, yesterday was his first day as a GO. He is a tennis pro. Such a sweet innocent shy guy. Im sure that will change fast, lol He was an electrical engineer, had worked for BMW, and was applying to work at Audi in Germany. Decided at 30, there is more to life and is here for at least 4 months, says he wont stay longer then 1-2 years. He came to sit with us at the show for the night.
BEST show yet, it was a Music Hits show….they sang and performed short acts to SO many familiar songs. YMCA, Girls just Want to have fun, Sweet Caroline, Tina Turner, AC/DC, BeeGees, Guns & Roses, and the list goes on. I video taped so many of the acts, as we never laughed so hard and smiled SO big! The best part were some of the woman roles were performed by men in heels. Such a show!! The energy of this place is on fire, yet at like 25% capacity, not even. It seems like such a special unique experience. Then the room opened up to all of us, they get you up and dancing, with your mask on. We are hanging out with Paco & Mitch, both the tennis pros. Every GO is either from Mexico City or Montreal.
We then all move to the main bar area…..party time, lots of music and drinks. OMG, there are these 2 girls, new arrivals from Long Island, approx late 50’s. They are tearing p the dance floor and are SO fun! One of the girls after dancing so long, walked over to the pool and jumped in with all her clothes on. I was like, OMG!! Apparently a normal occurrence……security came to mop up the dance floor that her jumpsuit now got wet. I really think Terri Sue would love a Club Med. it is the most energized yet relaxing vacation with non stop fun good times. Party City!! Where everyone becomes your friend.
After hours of dancing Im beat! We call it a night! Say our good bye’s to so many new friends. Until tomorrow……
Thanks Again for the comments. Anne, I love knowing you spent so much time here. Yes to all the baked goods. Pinnacle Peak mountain will be calling my name upon return.

Your attention to detail and memory is incredible! I can’t remember what I ate for dinner last night. Love this post! You two are the best traveling duo. I just love your adventure. The Club Med entertainment is pretty funny! So glad to see you smile and have this level of inner peace. It’s truly beautiful on you both. The flying like birds up above those crystal blue waters is right up my alley. Enjoy the remainder of your vacation!
